How chiropractic strengthens your game
A chiropractor is trained to treat the entire neuromuscular and musculoskeletal system and can therefore help golfers reduce the tension and load on the body. The lower back has to absorb a lot of rotational force in a standard swing, but other parts of the body matter too. Pain or restricted movement in your shoulders, elbows, knees or wrists has a direct effect on your swing, and so on your score.
A chiropractic treatment can bring your body back into balance, take pressure off nerves and improve the blood flow to important muscles. When you feel good in yourself and your mobility is not hindered anywhere, you swing freely and concentrate fully on your game. Elbow trouble after golfing? It all starts with you
Chiropractic improves your golf game, but what you do yourself helps even more. Come to the course a little earlier and do a calm warm-up with light stretches and gentle practice swings. Whether or not you hit a basket of balls on the driving range: loosening and stretching the muscles is essential. After the round, do a few light stretches as well to keep your muscles supple and long.
On the course you become dehydrated quickly, and drinking too little lays the foundation for a strained muscle or similar injury. So drink plenty of water before, during and after golfing, certainly when it is warm. If you walk the course, do not carry your bag but pull it on a trolley. Carrying a heavy golf bag for eighteen holes can strain the intervertebral discs and irritate nerves.
If you have the choice, avoid metal spikes. They can catch in the ground during your swing and so cause a nasty knee or back injury. If you notice your swing hurts in a particular spot, consider a few lessons to learn a more efficient technique. Stick to these tips and you will enjoy a pain-free round every time.
