What is a frozen shoulder?
A frozen shoulder refers to a condition in which the joint capsule shortens. This capsule is made of connective tissue and surrounds the ball and socket of the shoulder joint. It provides support and, among other things, keeps the ball in the socket. To allow enough movement and to stop the shoulder slipping out of the socket, the capsule needs to be the right length.
With a frozen shoulder the pain usually develops gradually, though sometimes within a few days. In the early stage the pain dominates. Later it is mainly the increasing stiffness of the shoulder that stands out, leading to all kinds of restricted movement.
Chiropractic care for a frozen shoulder in Geldermalsen
A frozen shoulder often eases over time, in many cases over a period of months to a few years, though recovery varies from person to person. Chiropractic can speed that recovery by mobilising the shoulder capsule in the direction in which it has shortened, so you can move smoothly again sooner.
