Welcome

Chiropractor Geldermalsen

Welcome to Chiropractie Rivierenland in Geldermalsen. Chiropractic is one of the most valuable forms of care there is: we treat and relieve physical problems without medication and without surgery.

Whether it is back pain, neck pain or recurring headaches, we look at the body as a whole, not just the spot where it hurts. That is how we work towards lasting recovery rather than temporary relief.

Chiropractor Barney welcomes you to Chiropractie Rivierenland in Geldermalsen

The goal of chiropractic care is to bring your body back into balance through gentle manipulation of the joints, tissues and spine. There is no "bone cracking" involved. These techniques relieve a wide range of problems, from tight muscles and neck pain to headaches, back pain and pain that radiates into the arms or legs. Chiropractic is one of the least invasive ways to address pain and resolve its underlying cause.

How can chiropractic care help you?

Many people assume chiropractic is only for back pain. In practice it helps with a far wider range of conditions, including migraines and headaches, chronic pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica, whiplash and problems caused by injury or long-term muscle tension.

At Chiropractie Rivierenland we take the time to understand your symptoms and your goals, and together we build a personalised recovery programme. You are very welcome here, so do explore all of our treatments.

Training to become a chiropractor

A chiropractor completes at least four years of full-time study at a chiropractic university, often preceded by a bachelor's degree in medicine or years of experience in a related healthcare field.

Students dedicate a minimum of 4,200 hours to their education, followed by at least 1,000 hours of fully supervised clinical training under an instructor. There they learn to diagnose and treat with precision, so the body can return to its natural, optimally functioning state.

The history of chiropractic care

The word "chiropractic" comes from the Greek "cheiros" (hand) and "practos" (done by): literally, "done by hand". The term was coined by the founder of chiropractic, Daniel David Palmer.

In 1895, D.D. Palmer treated Harvey Lillard, a partially deaf janitor who afterwards reported that his hearing had improved. Two years later, Palmer opened the first chiropractic school.

Since then, chiropractors around the world have helped people overcome back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, muscle tension and headaches and migraines, and countless other physical problems have been prevented or eased the same way. Millions of people still benefit from his work every day.

Chiropractor Matthew Barney D.C. is Webster certified. Pregnancy changes the way load passes through your pelvis: the ligaments soften, the ribcage widens and your posture shifts forward. That change rarely stays in one place.

Many women notice it as low back pain, a tight band between the shoulder blades, or pain travelling into the leg. The Webster Technique works on the position and mobility of the pelvis and on the muscles and ligaments around it.

Each treatment is matched to the stage of your pregnancy. The certification is awarded by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.

I'd had pain in my lower back and buttock radiating into my lower leg for two years. I tried everything, but it never went away, until now. After just a few treatments at Chiropractie Rivierenland with Ben Arctander I already noticed a difference, and within a month I was pain-free. I only wish I'd come sooner.
